Installing Brushes for Photoshop

Adobe Photoshop brushes (.ABR extension) are not interchangeable with Jasc Paint Shop Pro, or any other design program, so make sure that you download the correct brush files. Some sites I like are Obsidian Dawn and vBrush, but the Brush Search Engine can be helpful in finding more.

Once you find a set of brushes you enjoy, download the file, saving it to a memorable location. Chances are that the files will be zipped, so you may need to obtain WinZIP or WinRAR if you do not already possess them. Both of the software have never ending trial versions, I believe, and will be more than adequate for everyday use. In order to unzip the files, you can just right click on the downloaded files and find the "Unzip To Here" option.

Copy all the ABR files. You will now need to find C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop 7.0\Presets\Brushes, or whatever your Photoshop brush folder is. Once you stumble upon it, paste all the ABR files into the folder. Next time you start Photoshop, the files should be available to use.
