Captain's Log: 2004.08

08.23.04: Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm

I don't want to think about school starting Thursday. Of course, when you try to ignore something, it tends to find a way to blaze up in front of you like a colossal neon sign. It is tough to believe I am a sophomore in high school because it seems that I was just starting kindergarten the other day. My class will be buying our books on Wednesday and I so dearly hope I will not bump into anyone I know. One reason being I did not bother to remember anyone's name and the other is I don't care for many of them. I'm considering wearing one of my mini skirts just to peeve the staff, but I would to convince someone else to do it with me. There is Power in numbers, folks, there is power in numbers.

I am getting my hair cut for school at 9:24 AM tomorrow. As much as I worship change I am planning to have it cut the same way as last time. While I have the right to mess with perfection it can put up quite the fight every morning. After that necessity I'm off to another doctor visit, lucky me.

Starfish Asylum Reviews is open to the eagerly awaiting public. Krissie and I have already completed a couple reviews and are anxious for more. One review of Summer Oracle has been completed and placed in the appropriate section.

I cannot honestly tell you that is all I have for you, but I've never been very complete on the topic of my doings. It is part of the mystery that is my very existence, and I leave you with the prayer I may exist for a while more.

The more I study religions the more I am convinced that man never worshipped anything but himself.

08.16.04: I'm Not In My Happy Place

I want to scream really loud. Wouldn't it be nice if I did? So what if it is eleven at night, I have my urges. But that's just me being selfish. My meditation has not been peaceful lately either. Maybe something is going to happen.

My birthday was rather uneventful. One year older, a hundred years wiser and all that. Wow, I'm in a bad mood. Well, not really a bad mood, I just don't feel content. On the fourteenth I went to a county fair with a friend I haven't seen in about a year. There was not much to amuse me there. I went on six rides and had someone draw a caricature of us. I don't think that it was quite able to catch my essence. We spent around an hour looking at the various animals and watched a snoring horse. While it was all enthralling enough, the best part was showering away the smells my hair acquired. Home; it's where the bathroom is.

I'm in the middle of creating a review site with another, more internet-savvy friend. We have been using the internet since our wee years of life, so this will surely be fascinating. I am probably the only person who played Doom at the age of two. Ah, the memories, the guns, the monsters with pink pants on. *pulls out plasma gun* Bwuhaha!

I remember my promise to tell the happenings of the orange belt testing. There were a scores of annoying people and there were several god-awful children. Just between you and me, I did better than a lot of the higher belts. Considering the state of my health right now that is just pitiful. There was a picnic after everyone was finished but I was in no mood to eat, so I wandered off. I walked around the woods for a while and when I was far enough to barely be able to hear the others I sat down and looked at the clouds until it was time to go.

Well folks, this has been delightful, but Case Closed is starting soon and my hands are beginning to shake. Pleasant trails!

08.07.04: A Turtle Named Poke

Guess who has a birthday on Monday? *silence* How flattering. If you are a really kind person you might even get me something from my wish list. *laughs* Of course, they say the free things mean the most. I'd be overjoyed if some of my visitors sent me e-mail cards. I enjoy reading feedback.

I just got back from a six hour Tae Kwon Do promotion test. At least I'm an orange belt now. The testing was different because it was an anniversary or something and all the TKD schools were there. It was held at Anna Page Park, which is a more a less a forest with the occasional large patch of grass. Rockford has a lot of trees. The weather was decent but the air pressure was horrid. But I love the woods so I can deal with that. Uh-oh, a flashback is coming. *cues blur effect*

In eighth grade the honor's class took a field trip to Rock Cut State Park. It was a freezing day and we were a bunch of intelligent but rule forsaking kids. You should know this couldn't end well. They divided us into groups of five and handed us compasses. We were supposed to go out and find checkpoints at different points of the forest with our handy dandy map. The teachers sent groups in ten minutes apart so it didn't turn into a follow the leader scenario. Of course my group was in the last bunch so some of my classmates had been in the woods a solid forty minutes.

Being the imps middle school kids are, the first group that went it disposed of all the checkpoint flags. Everyone was lost in a park that was many miles wide in all directions. I mention now that I was the leader of my little clan, but there was indeed an appointed navigator. He happened to be the most insane kid in school. *twitch* After twenty minutes went by we came across a stream with a strong current. That's about when the navigator leaped into the stream and floated away. Of course he had to have the map with him. I'm not sure what went through my mind at that moment. I chased after him for a couple yards but there was too much foliage in the way to keep pace. So I closed my eyes and said, "Ashes to ashes, dust to dust." I hoped the little bugger drowned.

We came to a giant rock and climbed to the top. I don't mean a big boulder, I mean something that would probably kill you if you jumped off. There we shared some popcorn and contemplated our next move. From the top I spotted another lost group so we joined them. Two hours later we came to a lake and took a fifteen or so minute break. Even though we were exhausted and famished we could appreciate a peaceful scene. A while after that we hit a road so we followed it two miles back to the park entrance. That's when we saw the vice principal driving away with our navigator. She seemed quite ticked. It was still another two and a half miles to get to our starting point so we trudged on. We eventually returned and the teachers said, "How disappointing. Do you know how long we had to wait for you? Children are such slow walkers these days." So we basically thought screw you all and ate hot-dogs. The end.

That's enough about forests for one day. I'll tell you about the testing next time.

I've received scores of e-mails asking how the surgery went. Awkward given that I have not seen the operating room yet. Besides, there is the minute chance I won't have to have it. A girl can't be gone for more than a day without people suspecting the worst. It's touching in a bizarre way. Don't get yourselves in a frenzy, it's bigger than getting my tonsils removed but I assure you it's not a liver transplant. I tend to be lacking in life threatening situations. I'll have an update on this on Tuesday.

I don't think I introduced you to Poke, the box turtle. A guy at my dad's work gave him to us a few weeks ago. Resources tell me Poke is five or six years old. With a little fixing up he'll be a feisty little imp. I didn't acquire a bountiful amount of information on his care but I purchased a book about turtles. It was wholly enthralling, a genuine page-turner. Did you know box turtles like hard-boiled eggs?

On the topic of pets, my little brother and mum have this mindset that my fish do not get fed often enough. I have explained to them several times that the filter pulls the food down into the pebbles and the fish forage for it after they nibble at the floating flakes. But of course I come downstairs to my five-year-old brother saying, "Fish were hungry," with fish food covering his arms. Now I'm low on fishy flakes and my tank is a giant mold culture.

My oh me, I forgot the updates. I added three new game reviews and updated a few old ones. I added a tutorial on designing for the color blind too. I know it is random. I almost had a layout done, but I thought I might try out a new trick on it first. Summie has to learn somehow, you know? Oh, and vote for my doll at Night Sanctuary. My ego tells me you will. *nods*

Call on God, but row away from the rocks.
